Day 4/14

Mondays are rough for me. I think it’s because everyone dislikes Mondays so people start Monday annoyed and it makes the whole day worse. If I get bad news on a Friday, I think “it’s okay, it’s Friday, at least I have the weekend.” We don’t have a built-in sliver of happiness, on Mondays. My gratitude today is my sliver of happiness. What is your sliver of happiness? Are you confused? 🫤

Okay… I’ll explain.

A few weeks ago I was talking to one of my close friends and venting about work. She told me I needed to find joy in my day, and this led me to a “sliver of happiness”. I can’t control what happens at work, but I can control my attitude towards it. I will journal at my desk, listen to a meditation on my breaks, and grab a sweet snack before going back to my desk from a bathroom break.

Sometimes I color in my adult coloring book. It helps my day go smoother, and I am not as stressed. I do deep breathing exercises in between tasks. Today, being a rough day (Mondays are always chaotic) I am grateful that I have implemented my silvers of happiness to get through the day because they helped me today. When was the last time you found joy in your day? Its much easier to allow others to stress you. I strive to rise above it and immerse myself in tiny bits of joy.
