Happiness is an emotion that I thought we were born with. When I was younger, I used to wonder why some people seemed to have it easy, whereas it was harder for others to be happy (i.e., me).

Did I somehow do something wrong?

Looking back, I think I should have been in therapy at a younger age. I had a rough time during middle school. I tried to cure my mental health issues by surrounding myself with friends. When those friendships ended, it was like the weight of my past feelings crushed down on me. 😭

As I grew into adulthood and went to therapy, I learned a valuable lesson about happiness. It turns out that no one else is responsible for your happiness. It is something that you have to find for yourself. You are the one who is responsible for how happy you are. You need to look within to find your happiness.

No one is obligated to make you happy.

It’s the middle of the year now. 7 months in. Where are you on your journey to find happiness within yourself?

What are you doing to make YOU happy?

Do you savor those little moments?

Are you stressed out to the point of exhaustion?

How long has it been since you took time for yourself or had a fun day?

If you can’t answer these questions, then now is the time to make room for yourself.

YOU deserve happiness!

Happiness isn’t something you get at the end of a long day after you’ve accomplished your goals. It is something that you work towards every single day.

Remember, you can always call your sister. 💕
