Water slides. Bathing suits. BBQ.
These are a few reminders of summertime fun. Summer is one of my best seasons. There are plenty of ways to create new memories.
One of my summertime memories is going to Bell’s Amusement Park. This was the biggest amusement park in Tulsa, Ok. It had everything.
There was an arcade for games and prizes. There were food stands. There were rides, the biggest being the rollercoaster, Big Ben.
Whenever I passed through the gate with my daily pass, it was like entering Wonderland.
I could just be a kid. I would see kids from school and the neighborhood.
I have been stopped at the top of Big Ben. I lost my afro 🪮 comb on the Tilt-the-Whirl. I was scared beyond all fear in the scary house. I lost my lunch on the sidewalk after that ride.
So, for me, summer is about making family memories.
I enjoy celebrating Juneteenth, but I really enjoy Cinco de Mayo. I want to make the kind of memories that stir my heart when I’m older.
I invite my sisters to do something Grand this summer ⛱️.
