Happy October, Sis! 🎃

My plans for this blog, originally were to talk about Fall and self-care for the season. Then the last few weeks have been insane, work has been chaos and its a new month.

Lately…… I am bothered and inundated by social media, and the news repeating the same traumatic theme.

Women are being attacked. Sexually. Physically. Verbally. ALL OF THE ABOVE

This isn’t a new theme.

EPSTEIN FILES.

Now it’s the Cornell 7.

Before that, a young woman at LSU faced a traumatizing situation (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/lsu-student-says-was-raped-football-player-still-team-rcna600539).

WE as women are not believed.

We are brushed aside. This is after we are told to speak up.

IT’S FRUSTRATING! 🤬

No…..beyond frustrating. It makes me sad because in my naivety of my younger days, I imagined a different future for us. I was sure there would be a point in time we would not have to sing our blind outrage.

How many women have come before us singing the same song of sorrow?

How many marches?

This has been a continuous theme for me since a young age. We are taught to be observant, make sure we are safe but shouldn’t men be more accountable? Why do we bear the responsibility?

WE ARE NOT HEARD.
Reason #456 why I am a writer.

WE need to be quieter.
“You should speak up”
Okay this is confusing 😫

My internal spirit is screaming and raging. I empathize with the women who are hurting.

You are my sister too. When you hurt, I hurt. When tears well up in your eyes so do mine.

A torn red paper heart symbolizing heartbreak and lost romance.

I want to tell you what I was never told when I was hurt many times by men:

“I see you. I love you. You did nothing wrong”.

This was a hard post to write, but it’s even harder to stay silent when Patriarchy is once again trying to kill us as swiftly as the wind blows.

I won’t stay silent, not when I have a sisterhood to grow and heal with. Silence does nothing but widen the cracks in our pain.

I will always stand with women. I stand with Jane Doe.

Remember, you can always call your sister…🫶🏽
